William Speir has been an artillery historian and Reenactor for almost 20 years. William is the author of ten muzzle-loading artillery manuals used by the Loyal Train of Artillery Chapter of the United States Field Artillery Association (LTAC-USFAA) and five ceremonial artillery manuals used by the Royal Hutt River Military College.

 

He is the Chief of the Royal Hutt River Artillery and a Certified Instructor of Antique Artillery through the LTAC-USFAA Artillery Schools. He was awarded the Honourable Order of St. Barbara in 2009 for his contributions to the USFAA though his Muzzle-Loading Artillery Manuals.

 

William is a frequent lecturer on the history of artillery and teaches artillery drills and safety procedures to Civil War Reenactors and Ceremonial Artillerists regularly. He is the commanding officer of the Second Florida Light Artillery reenacting group, and a Director of the Second Florida Volunteers Living History, Inc.
